Ultrasound imaging, also called sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body, rather than X-rays.
Ultrasound images are captured in real-time and can show the structure and movement of the body’s internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.
Because no x rays are used this examination is completely safe.
Ultrasound is used to assess non-bony structures such as internal organs, muscles and tendons. Its real time capability allows accurate guiding of needles during injections and biopsies. The needle position is always precise as the needle is watched constantly while guiding it into the desired location.
Commonly performed ultrasound examinations are:
- Shoulder ultrasound – with or without injection
- Abdominal ultrasound.
- Pelvis ultrasound
- Ultrasound of lumps and Bumps
- Ultrasound of other tendons and joints
We offer a full range of ultrasound examinations. Appointment times vary between 15- 45 min. depending on procedure.
